7/4/18 Armenia Outage Explanation
At 3:26 PM, there was an an insulator failure on a switch pole outside the Armenia Substation. This caused the pole to catch on fire. This event caused the high side fuse at the substation to open, which resulted in the entire substation being out of power. Repairs at the substation were completed and the majority of the members were back in service at 6:45 PM. The burned pole and associated equipment were changed out with the remaining members all back at 11:45 PM.
High temperatures and humidity, along with the higher than normal usage, contributed to the inability to restore service to all members earlier.
